Procurement
A value generating department and important business partner

Procurement at Jiahua Chemicals is centrally managed by the procurement department. It is globally responsible for providing Jiahua with materials and services on time, of the right quality and at the best total value. It consists of 2 main divisions, direct materials procurement (raw materials) & In-direct procurement (MRO, Capital Projects & Services).

Sustainability in Procurement & Supply Chain
  • As a global business, we have a responsibility to manage our supply chain carefully and Procurement sits at the start of the supply chain with purchase of key raw materials, equipment & services for our manufacturing plants. We connect with our suppliers to source responsibly and our partnerships with suppliers are based on mutual value creation, as well as a reliable supply of raw materials, technical goods and services at competitive prices.

  • Jiahua is part of UN Global Compact, an organization which is committed to do business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with the Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, as well as taking strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation.

In order to effectively address the wide-ranging challenges of a sustainable supply chain and to leverage synergies, we participate in an industry initiative of the chemical industry – “Together for Sustainability” (TfS). Jiahua drives collaboration with TfS to establish new sustainability standards for the company’s supply base. This initiative is an integral part of Jiahua's commitment to sustainability in the supply chain.

In the initiative sustainability assessments and audit results of suppliers are exchanged through an IT platform (Ecovadis). Sharing information with both existing and new suppliers and customers reduces the number of double assessments and audits. It also significantly reduces time spent, resources used and overall costs. This enables both sourcing and supplying organizations to allocate resources more efficiently and to mutually improve sustainability standards in the global supply chains of the respective industries.

TfS focus not only on conducting audits or assessments, but also on capability building for suppliers for example through training courses and events. This supports suppliers in operating consistently with industry expectations on sustainability. TfS aims at developing and implementing a global supplier engagement program that assesses and improves sustainability sourcing practices, including ecological and social aspects. It is based on best practices and builds on established principles – such as the United Nations Global Compact, the Responsible Care Global Charter as well as other global standards.
